Using videos in PowerPoint can be so powerful. It’s clunky – however – to create a link that makes you leave PowerPoint and go to a browser to view the video. It looks unprofessional – you have to see all the comments, and sometimes it auto starts the next video.
Use the following steps to insert a YouTube video into a PowerPoint presentation.
- In your browser – find the YouTube video you want to embed.
- Below the video – click on the Share button.
- After clicking Share, click on Embed. You will see the embed code come up in the window like you see below.
Click on it and copy it (Ctrl+C).
- In PowerPoint, navigate to the slide you want the video to play.
- In the ribbon, click Insert and then click the drop down under Video.
- In the dialog box, paste the embed code you copied into the embed field of the window and click the arrow.
- You will see a black box on your slide. Resize it as you would like it to appear.
- On the Playback ribbon – select the desired playback settings. I chose On Click.
- Test the video.
